- Fitted Clothing- If you take nothing away from my post but one thing, let it be this. Wear clothes that is fitting to your body, this means pants that you don’t have to roll up, tops that don’t look big on you and clothings that lays perfectly on your body. Being a petite lady I have found that I have to get a lot of my clothes altered if I want to wear things that are on trend and not pay a fortune. Because the reality of it is that not everything you love you will find in your size or will flatter your body but if you know how you want things to fit you then you can invest in those pieces or do what i did which was find an alterations lady who does wonders for me and can transform anything for me. I have bought items on sale that are 4 sizes bigger than what I wear and she is able to make it look like it was never altered and it was originally made for my size. If you don’t know what clothing is best for your body, simply do a quick search and you will find plenty of articles that have recommendations.
- Simplify Looks with Solid Colors- The simplest, everyday flawless yet effortless looks are done with solid neutral colors. I can not stress enough that you don’t need a whole wardrobe update to look expensive, just fitting basics that you can dress up and down and create a simple yet clean look. Try buying a pant, top, dress, long sleeve and cami in white, black, nude and grey and trust me you will be able to do plenty with this.
- Invest in Statement Pieces- Opposite to what I just told you above, sometimes it is good to splurge on a few statement pieces like my coat in these pictures that help elevate a simple look. Remember you don’t need a ton just 1 or 2 in each category: jewelry, coats, shoes, bags shades and a bold lipstick!
- & 5. Be Well Groomed & Take Care of Your Body- When I say this I mean everything from hair, makeup, nails to skin. This may seem like a lot to cover but have you noticed that people who look or are expensive don’t ever really look like they just rolled out of bed? They very much put an effort into their everyday look and they also take care of their skin and their body by drinking lots of water and eating well. So as a whole think of what you are putting into your body and how it reacts to it. You want fresh glowing skin which means you you need to give your body what it needs to give you that, then you will only have to apply your basic amount of makeup as your skin and hair will already be glowing and shining because you are caring for your body internally.
I hope this helps give you a good starting place on how you can look expensive on a budget!
