During the holiday season, we always remember to be a little more generous to those around us. Whether that is leaving a bigger tip, adopting a family to purchase holiday gifts for or buying a stranger a cup of coffee. But what if we continued throughout 2020 with that same generosity? Just think of how much better the world we live in would be. This continuous generosity is what Frost Bank’s mission is all about. Frost’s mission, Opt For Optimism is all about helping their customers achieve financial health and to support local Texas communities by spreading optimism. Since 2018, they have made it a priority and have so much more generosity to spread coming in 2020.
Giving to others is something that I have always loved to do and generates such a heart-filling experience every time I do so. I’m sure you recognize that feeling but did you know that it also has some amazing health benefits? Generous giving has shown to reduce blood pressure, lower risk of depression and trigger feel-good chemicals like endorphins, dopamine and oxytocin. So when Frost Bank reached out to me to be part of their “Frost It Forward” challenge, I was more than happy to join the community!
Frost Bank sent me a $100 Frost It Forward card to help spread optimism in my community and five $10 cards to empower others to Frost It Forward as well. Since I went back home to Texas for the holidays I thought this would be the perfect time to show some surprise kindness to those I love and strangers. I paid for a friend’s gas, paid for two people’s meals when we went to the Magnolia Market at Waco, Texas and paid for a cup of coffee for a stranger behind me in line at a coffee shop in Houston. All acts of kindness were received with great surprise and much gratitude but, I think I was the one who left feeling extra grateful and with a full heart because I was able to do one small thing for them. I truly think there is a very special feeling when you are able to help give to someone you don’t know and a part of me likes to think that because I was kind to them, then they will also be kind to a stranger To learn more about Frost It Forward and how you can spread generosity and optimism in your own community, please visit optforoptimism.com
