It’s that special time of year when the pale masses begin to flock to beaches once again. The booze starts a’flowin and the blenders start roaring as droves of dad bods pack their bags and grace their presence on shores everywhere. When we aren’t soaking up the rays or impressing the females with our uncoordinated backstroke, we’ve got to navigate the hot, sunny weather that summer brings. That said, a good beach vacation can be even better with the right set-up.
A good friend of mine always says, “it’s all about the small things in life.” If you think about it, it’s true: that coozie that keeps your drink extra cool, paired with the lime wedge and the sunglasses that make you look like Gosling…all of these small things come together to form a perfect combination that only you know is right. What I’m saying here is clothes can be the icing on the cake when it comes time for your vacation – they are the small things. Crack a frosty one and dig through some tips below.
A t-shirt is fine but linen is its older, more talented sibling. Covered in my previous post, linen is a highly breathable material that is very durable. Although it is prone to wrinkling, this fabric will keep you cool during the hottest of days. You may not go as bold as my blue and white zig-zags, but brighter colors are commonplace in summer and are easily passed as safe during this time of year.
JORD’s Delmar watch is made from beechwood and is one of the lightest watches that I own. Wood watches make for a perfect match with beach attire given their natural look.
Shorts
Although Chubby’s are becoming more and more popular, I recommend shorts that break an inch or so above the knee cap. Makes you look taller and shows off the tree trunks without looking obnoxious.
Remember to keep ’em light in color and weight. No one is going to be wearing boots to the beach man. My recommendation is the Nike x J. Crew collaboration. That gum sole is a beaut.
Sunglasses
Top it off with your favorite pair and it’s time to shine. You should always choose your frame style based on your facial structure.Hope this post helped you prep for any summer festivities you may find yourself in, be it on the beach, in the city or the country. As a ginger I feel it is my duty to remind you to not forget the sunscreen. The sun can be an evil bastard. Anyway, cheers to you lookin good this summer!
