I know this isn’t the summer that many of us expected and most of us like myself thought COVID would be over by now but the reality is we are still living in it and are trying to make the best of it. So while many things might not be open but we still want to make the most of summer here are a few free outdoor options that you can try with friends and family to get out of the house in St. Louis.
Forest Park- The park is open and how lucky are we that we have such a great park you can walk around in, have a picnic or sit back and enjoy?! A few things within in the park but it remains open and free for all to enjoy.
Zoo– The zoo in Forest Park is open once again and still free! You just have to go online and book a time to visit, it’s as simple as that. Be sure to check out their page to see all the rules and regulations before your next visit.
Pulitzer Park Like Area– This little greenery area just opened up and we went one morning to walk it with our coffee. It isn’t big but it is pretty nice to see a green space within the city.
Stroll Through Neighborhoods– This was something we did a little more last year because we had the ability to go into shops and restaurants but this is still something you can do that is free. I found that I tend to stick to my park of town often so picking a neighborhood we might not often be in is a great way to discover new spots and to support local businesses if you wanted to pick up a treat while on your stroll.
Arch Grounds– The Arch Grounds have always been one of my favorite spots to take in downtown, they are home of the Arch and museum but since we are speaking of things to do outside I highly recommend just taking a stroll through the Arch Grounds.
Kiener Plaza– About a block from the Arch Grounds is Kiener Plaza which is another park that is always fun to walk through.
Eckert’s Farm– If you’re up for it and want to do a little drive, head up to Eckert’s! You can enjoy so many activities that all take place outdoors safely year round at a very affordable price for all the family, check out my previous blog post about them HERE.
I hope that this list helps you as we all are still trying to make this summer fun and safe!
PS- Here are some of my favorite items to have in this summer heat that makes being outside a little more enjoyable.
